Tyree Cinque Simmons is an American Disc Jockey (DJ) and record executive from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is recognized as the official DJ for “Atlanta-based” rapper “Young Jeezy”.  He is also well known for hosting several mixtapes, most notably his successful Gangsta Grillz series. He performed a “Dedication” series in 2006 with New Orleans-bred rapper “Lil Wayne”. The New York Times called Dedication 2 as one of the "10 best recordings of 2006".

Early Life

DJ Drama was born on April 22, 1978, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. He graduated from the Clark Atlanta University where he started to perform soulful-rap and neo-soul. He was already known under his current nickname, then. 

Career

In 2003 DJ Drama, along with Don Cannon and DJ Sense, founded Aphilliates Music Group. Three years later, the group signed a contract with Asylum Records. DJ Drama made an appearance in T.I.'s debut feature film, 2006's ATL. He released his first album Gangsta Grillz: The Album in December 2007 and the album’s first single was, "Takin' Pictures", released in 2007. Next year, they released their second single, "The Art of Storytellin' Part 4", featured OutKast and Marsha Ambrosius.

In 2009, DJ Drama released his second album entitled Gangsta Grillz: The Album (Vol. 2). His first and second singles were "Day Dreaming" and "Ridiculous". Their second album sold over 19,000 copies in its first week, and as of January 5, 2010, the album sold 41,022 copies. Drama appeared on American singer-songwriter T-Pain's musical television special “Freaknik: The Musical”, as a voice role of radio announcer named Mr. Thanksgiving.

In October 2011, DJ Drama released his third studio album “Third Power” which featured first single "Oh My", releasing in May 2011 and second single "Never See You Again". The album listed at #42 on the Billboard 200 chart. The Gangsta Grillz album reunified with DJ Drama and Don Cannon after a long year gap filled with a lot of fighting and quarreling as business partners.

Years later, Drama announced his fourth album “Quality Street Music”. It was featured in the singles "We in This Bitch" and "My Moment". The album debuted at number 15 on the US Billboard 200 chart and at number three on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. The album was sold over 25,000 copies in its first week and it was regarded as the most charting album to date. In 2014, Drama announced that he was now going to serve as the A&R (Artists and repertoire) for Atlantic Records.

Personal Life

The drama was involved in romantic love affairs with Summer Walker for several months in 2007. She is a supermodel with a sexy and hot body. They got married in 2009 but soon they divorced. Reportedly, he has two sons from a previously unknown relationship. He is currently in a relationship with Playboy model Jessica Burciaga.
