Alex Borstein is an American actress who is well recognized for voicing the role of Lois Griffin on the animated comedy series 'Family Guy (1999)'. For that, she was rewarded with A Primetime Emmy Awards and also multiple nominations. Apart from it, she is also a writer, producer, and comedian.

She was born as Alexandrea Borstein on 15 February 1971, in Highland Park, Illinois, the United States of
America. With her elder brothers, she was raised in Deerfield, Illinois. She is the only daughter of father  Irv Borstein and mother Judy Borstein. Her both parents are mental health professionals. For her education, she attended San Francisco State University.

She started her acting career in the 1990's by working on the animated series 'Casper' and 'Pinky and
The Brain' with Jackson Douglas. After that in 1996, she served on the show called 'Power Rangers Zeo' as the voice of Queen Machina. A year later in 1997, she joined the cast of MAD tv. Then, from 1999 to 2003, in the animated series 'Family Guy', she voiced Lois Griffin, Tricia Takanawa, and other various characters. For two years she left the 'Family Guy' and returned back in 2005. She performed too well in the series due to which in 2008 she got nominated for the Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Animated Program. Similarly, she was again nominated for Primetime Emmy Awards in 2013 for Outstanding Voice-Over Performance.

In 2013, she got a great chance to portrayed the lead role as Dawn Forchette in 'Getting On' where she worked from 2013 to 2015. In the series 'Shameless', she appeared as Lau Decker since 2011.

Along with acting, she has also served as a writer and consulting producer of the series. A year ago in 2017, she voices Edie Mc Vroom in Cars 3 and was cast as Susie Myerson in the series 'The Marvelous
Mrs. Maisel'. Recently in 2018, she was finally awarded Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series 'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel'. Also, she received Primetime Emmy
Awards for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance in 'Family Guy'.

The couple together had two kids named Barnaby Borstein Douglas and Henrietta Borstein Douglas. Unfortunately, their relationship could not last long and they divorced in October 2014. From that time onwards, she is living a single life.
